When it comes to researching how to choose a ServiceNow partner there are a variety of questions you need to ask, but it all boils down to one thing: It depends.
Once the internal discussions, end-less presentations and hours of demos are done around which IT platform will place your company in the best position for growth, the next big question is “Who’s going to do the ServiceNow implementation?”
The first time I lead a software selection committee, I was more than happy once we had identified the top 3 IT platforms. But now I was left with the more challenging part of identifying who could deliver the work.
In the ServiceNow space there are plenty of Partners, but how do you find that “Trusted ServiceNow Partner” to implement ServiceNow and provide that leadership direction?
There are many consulting firms that are “Yes-Men”. You ask them if they can implement Problem Management in a week and they say “Yes!” You ask them if they can tweak your ServiceNow instance around HR within 2 months and they “Yes!”
Successful companies are led by leaders that have open and honest conversation around your business and ask the questions:
- Should we do this?
- Why are we doing this?
- How do we do this successfully?
- What is your success criteria?
The right ServiceNow partner should listen to your business challenges and what you need to accomplish in your day-to-day to allow your company to grow and position you to be successful.
In the case where the client asked if Problem Management could be implemented in a week, a trusted ServiceNow partner should lead the conversation around what issues they are having, walk through their workflows identify what they are trying to accomplish.
In this example, after discussing the client’s issues, my client was actually looking to implement Change Management. In the HR case, our implementation specialist identified that the clients’ instance was so customized that we identified an alternate solution that would solve their business issues and achieve their “success criteria.” The duration was extended beyond the 2 months but implemented successfully!
