Three Ways to Create Efficiencies in Your Marketing

create efficiencies

The world of marketing is vast. Between email, social media, website, tradeshows, content marketing, and more, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle. This adage is especially true when you’re a small marketing team. And it’s even truer if you’re a one-person show.

How do you most effectively stay on top of all your campaigns? Where should you spend your time? How can you remain efficient when there’s so much to do?

The answers to these questions can feel overwhelming, but there are ways to ease your workload and create more targeted marketing campaigns.

For example, here are three ways to create efficiencies in your marketing:

  1. Repurpose Evergreen Content.

No matter what industry you’re in, you have expertise. You follow best practices. This type of content is great to produce because it’s always relevant to your audience, and you can repurpose the information.

Let’s say you want to create an awesome white paper, but you know it’s going to take a lot of work. You have to write it (or outsource it), design it, then distribute it. And then you’re done, right? Wrong!

There is so much you can do with all that information you just put together. If you created a guide with four major points, you can create four blog posts that highlight a specific point. You already have the foundation of the content; you just need to flesh it out a little more for each blog.

Additionally, you can create “How To” infographics that give your information a more digestible and visible quality.

Integrate additional media into your content by recording the white paper as an audio file. Then readers can listen to your content while they’re on the way to work or washing dishes. Repurposing information and distributing it in different ways saves you time and energy.

  1. Don’t Forget Your Purpose.

It’s so easy to get lost in the daily grind. You have a lot of responsibilities, and you’re being pulled in a lot of directions. But one of the best things you can do is simply remember your purpose.

You can study marketing. Or go to conferences and see all kinds of cool new things going on in marketing. And you’ll probably want to try every single one of them.

While it’s good to get inspired, you should also be realistic and stay focused. If your main mission for your marketing plan is to promote services, then make sure everything you do achieves that goal. If something doesn’t fit, it’s not worth your time. That’s not to say you shouldn’t try the cool new thing in marketing; you just need to make sure it fits into your plan.

  1. Use the Tools at Your Disposal.

Remember, some technologies out there are designed to help you be the best marketer you can be—from social media dashboards like HootSuite (which even offers a free version) to full-blown marketing automation software like HubSpot and Sugar Market.

In addition to helping you manage your marketing efforts (such as setting up automated workflows and sending email newsletters), marketing automation software also tracks those efforts. For instance, there are reporting features to show you the ROI of a specific campaign. And you can make the necessary adjustments to get the most of all your hard work.

Conclusion

Marketing is fast-paced, and it can feel never-ending. That’s why it’s so important to create efficiencies in your workflow. Then you can test the waters, try new types of campaigns, and have more time to create content and distribute information in multiple ways.
